TO ALONI (THE THRESHING FLOOR)

- I went on a journey to find myself that day. In the aloni, I came full circle. -

Ellena Rados is a recent graduate of Fine Arts from Meadowbank TAFE, an emerging artist who has been invited to participate in the Sydney Greek Festival 2002, with the launch of her solo exhibition, To Aloni.

Through this exhibition of paintings, Ellena Rados relates the experience of the Aloni, and its central role to peasant life in a Greek village. The stone circle of the threshing floor was a perfect stage for dance, a place of meeting and storytelling, ritual and celebration, as well as a place of toil. The Aloni has been used in Mediterranean agriculture for at least 6 thousand years.
