The musical highlight of the 20th Greek Festival of Sydney will be
Alkistis Protopsaltis live in concert, complete with an entourage of
18 accomplished musicians and singers. Alkistis Protopsalti will perform
for one night only, 8pm Friday 22nd March, at Sydney's best acoustic
venue, the Sydney City Recital Hall.
Protopsalti, a household name throughout Greece has a voice that resonates
a heartfelt truth, winning her a place in Greece's elite circle of singer/musicians
that includes Georgios Dallaras and Haris Alexiou.
Considered one of Greece's leading singers, the uncompromising Protopsalti
is surrounded by the winning team of songwriter Lena Nikolakopoulou
and producer Nikos Antipas.
Her rare public performances have won her accolades throughout America
and Europe, particularly in France, where her theatrical presentation
of her music has meant sell-out concert seasons.
A musical perfectionist, Protopsalti's has recorded with many of Greece's
and Europe leading musicians, most notably her outstanding album Paradektika
that was recorded with film composer Goran Bregovic of Time of the Gypsies
fame.
The venue for this outstanding concert will be the recently opened
City Recital Hall in Angel Place, in the heart of Sydney. Recognised
as having the best acoustics in all of Sydney, intimate space comfortably
seats a thousand people. Tucked in Angel Place, the City Recital Hall
is a stone throws from Australia Square and numerous parking stations.
