The case of Alex Doukas by author Dr Dimitris Tzoumacas and Professor Anastasios Tamis

The book's author Dr Dimitris Tzoumacas and Professor Anastasios Tamis present a talk that explores the experiences of the Doukas writing legacy, which is hailed as a political and revolutionary work for its time.

Greek immigrants, mainly of working class background and usually with little or no formal education, rarely attempt to express themselves in writing. Consequently, much history and many social, personal and emotional experiences are lost. Migrant writer Alex Doukas (1900-1962) is a rare exception.

Dr Dimitris Tzoumacas was born in Athens and migrated to Australia from Paris in 1974. He holds a PhD in Philosophy and was a lecturer of modern Greek at the University of NSW and currently works with the Greek Press Consul. He has published five books.

Professor Anastasios Tamis is Director of the book's publisher - National Centre for Hellenic Studies and Research (Melbourne).
