Café Carnivale - Melismos
A
remarkable presentation of ancient Greek music by local trio Melismos,
featuring songs based on ancient musical fragments, including lines written
by Euripides in 408BC, preserved on papyrus.
The songs have been realised from surviving musical fragments and are performed on copies of ancient instruments made by Charalambos Vatiliotis. Melismos will also include some recent folk music (demotika)in celebration of Australia's Greek heritage.
