The 2006 Greek Film Festival closed on a high!

The 2006 Greek Film Festival of Sydney closed last Tuesday 3 October with an additional popular session of Sirens In The Aegean, after three intense weeks of great Greek cinema.

On behalf of the Festival Team here at The Greek Film Festival of Sydney we would like to sincerely thank you for your support of this years event.

This year, The Film Festival, which is an initiative of The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, took Leichhardt by storm with 23 fantastic films. These included our opening blockbuster Sirens of the Aegean. This was followed by a fabulous reception at the Italian Forum.

To all our sponsors we sincerely thank you for supporting the Greek Film Festival. Your involvement helped to create the most successful and high profile Film Festival. Thank you once again for your support, which was instrumental in ensuring that the Film Festival was a resounding success. It has set a new precedent and we look forward with great excitement to other festival events later this year and hope that we will be able to work together again in 2007!

Last but certainly not least to you the patrons a huge thank you for coming and supporting the Greek culture through the film festival. It’s you the patrons who come back every year, who spread the word throughout the Greek and mainstream community and allows our film festival to grow every year.

GREEK FESTIVAL 2007 – APPLICATIONS SOUGHT

The 2007 Greek Festival is only 6 months away and we are busily getting an awesome program ready for you for next year.

We are seeking applications and expressions of interest from all areas of the Greek and Greek Australian arts and cultural community with links to ancient, modern and contemporary Greek culture. Event proposals are requested from all artists and groups who are involved in the areas of sport, theatre, music, dance, literature, film, comedy, visual arts, design, crafts, food and wine, history and education and any other area that falls under the arts or cultural ‘umbrella’.
