Australia’s Greek Cafes

Australias Greek Cafes

An Open forum presented by Effy Alexakis and Leonard Janiszewski

To complement the success of the nationally touring Selling an American Dream: Australia's Greek Cafe exhibition at Macquarie University Art Gallery, the Greek Festival of Sydney is hosting an open forum, presented by the curators of the exhibition Effy Alexakis and Leonard Janiszewski.

Everyone with café memories and memorabilia is invited to discuss their experiences and/or any café items they have kept (such as menus, milkshake makers, sundae dishes, lolly jars, photographs, signage, etc, which can be brought along on the night). Janiszewski will provide a brief lecture on the history of the Greek café, accompanied by both historical and contemporary images. The forum will then be open to all members of the audience.
