About Greek Orthodox Community Childcare Centre
The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW (GOC) Child Care Centre is a community based Early Childhood Education and Care Service operating for over 40 years. We are a 58-place centre from 6 weeks to 6 years.
Our kitchen sits at the heart of daily life at our centre. Mealtimes are about more than nourishment-they foster belonging, routine, care, and connection. They're moments of comfort, shared stories, and genuine interactions. We prepare fresh meals each day, thoughtfully accommodating a wide range of allergies and dietary requirements.
We are looking for a warm, organised, and reliable Cook or Chef who understands that feeding children is more than a task-it is a responsibility grounded in safety, trust, and consistency. Someone who takes pride not only in preparing nourishing meals, but in creating a calm, dependable presence in the heart of our kitchen, where children feel cared for and families feel reassured.

The Role
You will be responsible for the daily operation of the service kitchen, preparing nutritious meals, morning and afternoon teas, late snack and dinners for children aged 0-6 years while maintaining strict food safety and compliance standards.
This role is a daytime shift 830am-330pm, Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
Daily preparation and cooking of breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
Menu planning aligned with Australian Dietary Guidelines for Children
Catering for allergies, medical conditions and special dietary requirements
Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organisation
Ordering food supplies and managing stock rotation
Accurate labelling and storage of food
Managing kitchen documentation and records
Compliance & Safety
Maintain Food Safety Supervisor standards
Follow NSW Food Authority and childcare food handling requirements
Temperature checks and food safety logs
Allergen management and cross-contamination prevention
Maintaining kitchen audits and compliance documentation
About You
We are looking for someone dependable and calm who enjoys routine and takes pride in their workspace.
Essential:
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willing to obtain)
Experience in commercial kitchen, childcare, aged care or school setting
Understanding of allergies and dietary requirements
Strong organisation and time management
WWCC (Working With Children Check) or willing to obtain
Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices
National child safety training - The mandatory, free course on the Geccko platform or willing to obtain
First Aid accreditations or willing to obtain
Desirable:
Certificate Ill in Commercial Cookery or similar
Experience in childcare or preparing meals for large groups
Menu planning experience
