Summer Holiday Fun Brings Energy and Laughter to Campsie

Four exciting days of activity, sport, and laughter brought children and families together at the Campsie South Bowling and Recreation Club during the recent Summer Holiday Fun program.

Despite the scorching summer temperatures, more than 30 children each day enthusiastically participated in a wide range of outdoor games and sports designed to keep them active, engaged, and smiling. The program was organised by the Education Department of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW and welcomed boys and girls aged 5–12 of all skill levels.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors from Leap Frogs Sports and Murphy’s Sports, children enjoyed structured activities that focused on teamwork, coordination, and fun. Over the four days, participants played classic playground favourites such as Bullrush, tested their aim with archery, and cooled off with energetic water-pistol games.

One of the highlights of the program was the exciting intergenerational finale — a friendly yet competitive barefoot lawn bowls tournament held at the Campsie South Bowling Club. Children, teachers, and even some enthusiastic parents joined in the fun, while members of the club’s senior community helped guide the young players through the game.

The atmosphere was filled with laughter, cheering, and a strong sense of community. Many parents stayed to watch the activities, while others joined in themselves, adding to the festive spirit of the event.

By the end of the four action-packed days, there were plenty of tired children and teachers, a few sun-kissed faces, and one question repeated by many of the participants:

“When will the next holiday program be?”

The program's success once again highlighted the importance of providing safe, active, and community-based opportunities for children during the school holidays.

Τέσσερις ημέρες γεμάτες παιχνίδι και χαμόγελα στο θερινό σχολικό πρόγραμμα!

Τέσσερις υπέροχες ημέρες γεμάτες δράση, παιχνίδι και γέλια απόλαυσαν τα παιδιά στο πρόγραμμα θερινό σχολικό πρόγραμμα (Summer Holiday Fun), που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Campsie South Bowling & Recreation Club.

Παρά τη μεγάλη ζέστη του καλοκαιριού, δεκάδες παιδιά ηλικίας 5–12 ετών συμμετείχαν καθημερινά σε πολλές υπαίθριες δραστηριότητες και αθλητικά παιχνίδια. Το πρόγραμμα οργανώθηκε από το Εκπαιδευτικό Τμήμα της Ελληνικής Ορθόδοξης Κοινότητας ΝΝΟ, και είχε στόχο να κρατήσει τα παιδιά δραστήρια, χαρούμενα και δημιουργικά κατά τη διάρκεια των σχολικών διακοπών.

Με τη βοήθεια έμπειρων εκπαιδευτών από τα προγράμματα Leap Frogs Sports και Murphy’s Sports, τα παιδιά συμμετείχαν σε ομαδικά παιχνίδια, έπαιξαν Bullrush, δοκίμασαν τοξοβολία και δροσίστηκαν με παιχνίδια με νεροπίστολα.

Η μεγάλη στιγμή του προγράμματος ήταν το τελικό παιχνίδι barefoot lawn bowls, όπου παιδιά, δάσκαλοι και γονείς έπαιξαν μαζί σε έναν διασκεδαστικό και φιλικό αγώνα. Τα μέλη του συλλόγου βοήθησαν τα παιδιά να μάθουν το παιχνίδι, δημιουργώντας μια όμορφη διαγενεακή εμπειρία.

Η χαρά, τα γέλια και ο ενθουσιασμός γέμισαν τον χώρο, ενώ πολλοί γονείς έμειναν να παρακολουθήσουν ή ακόμη και να συμμετάσχουν στο παιχνίδι.

Στο τέλος των τεσσάρων ημερών, υπήρχαν πολλά κουρασμένα αλλά χαρούμενα παιδιά και δάσκαλοι, με μερικά ηλιοκαμένα πρόσωπα — και όλοι ρωτούσαν το ίδιο πράγμα:

«Πότε θα γίνει το επόμενο πρόγραμμα διακοπών;»
