The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW is proud to prepare for a very special milestone – the 100th Anniversary of St Sophia Cathedral (The Church of Holy Wisdom), Paddington, to be celebrated in 2027.
For almost a century, St Sophia Cathedral has held a special place in the life of our community. Generations have gathered there to celebrate their faith, heritage and important family milestones – from weddings and baptisms to feast days, Greek School events and community celebrations.
To commemorate this historic 100-year milestone, the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW is compiling a special commemorative book celebrating the Cathedral’s rich history and the people and families who have been part of its story.
We invite you to share your memories
We are calling on members of our community, past and present, to contribute photographs, documents, stories and other treasured mementos connected with St Sophia Cathedral and its community.
We are particularly looking for:
Photographs from weddings, baptisms, feast days and community celebrations
Dates and descriptions relating to photographs, events and significant moments
Personal stories and memories of St Sophia Cathedral
Photographs and memories from Church Hall celebrations and Greek School events
Historical documents and other mementos that help tell the story of the Cathedral and its community
Whether your memories are from recent years or many decades ago, we would love to hear from you. Every photograph, story and keepsake can help preserve the history of St Sophia Cathedral for future generations.
